Fire damages shop near New York Mills

Sheriff deputies, on Nov. 13, reported fire damage to a shop near New York Mills, close to 370th Street in Newton Township. Firefighters were called to the scene at 10:06 p.m.
“The fire stemmed from a spark caused by an angle grinder cutting tin earlier in the day,” said a sheriff deputy. “Damages were minor but there was smoke damage, insulation damage and siding damage. There were no injuries.”
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by fire departments from New York Mills and Perham.
Train, tractor collide
One person suffered a minor injury when a tractor collided with a train south of Ottertail city on Nov. 13. The accident took place at 1:54 p.m.
Sheriff deputies said the driver of the tractor was unable to make a stop after seeing the approaching train near a railway crossing. The train hit the front end of the tractor which was a total loss. There was minor damage to the train.
The injured tractor driver was taken to the hospital in Perham.
Three injured in traffic accident
Sheriff deputies, in conjunction with the state highway patrol, reported three injuries in a traffic accident near Bluffton on Nov. 13. The two-vehicle accident took place at 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 75 and 29.
A Nissan traveling westbound on Highway 29 collided with a Chevrolet Silverado heading eastbound on Highway 29. One vehicle turned in front of the other vehicle, resulting in a collision.
Injured were Joshua Allen Campbell, 43, of Sebeka; Bruce Allen Haus, 60, of Osceola, Wisconsin; and Kelly Joann Wyss, 61, of Forest Lake, Minnesota.
