The public is invited to attend and learn about the new amenities and how the facility will benefit county operations at an open house from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Otter Tail County will celebrate the completion of its new Perham highway garage with a public open house from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 829 NE Third St. Refreshments will be provided.
“This new garage means our Perham area crew will have the space for equipment they need to complete efficient road maintenance in the area,” said Cristi Field, Otter Tail County highway maintenance coordinator. “Having a facility with room for equipment means we can better serve residents, especially during the winter months. Our crew takes pride in maintaining safe roads, and this garage gives them the tools to do that.”
“This new garage means our Perham crew will have the space and equipment they need,” said Cristi Field, Otter Tail County highway maintenance coordinator. “Having a facility with storage for equipment and a wash bay means we can better serve residents, especially during winter. Our crew takes pride in maintaining safe roads, and this garage gives them the tools to do that.”
The new facility will enhance the county’s ability to maintain roads and serve residents in the Perham area. The project represents a successful collaboration between Otter Tail County, the city of Perham and local contractors. A county-owned salt shed and wash bay for plow trucks are among the new amenities.
“This project is an example of what we can do when local government works together,” said County Commissioner Bucholz. “Our partnership with the city of Perham got this project going, and now we have a facility that will serve our residents for a long time.”
Doug Cannell, Otter Tail County’s facilities operations manager, shared the collaborative effort with Hammers Construction and the subcontractors.
“Working with Hammers on this project has been outstanding,” Cannell said. “This garage is proof that when everyone is committed to quality, the end project is something to be proud of.”
County Commissioner Bucholz, County Engineer Jodi Teich and Perham Mayor Tim Meehl will be available for interviews during the open house. Highway Department staff Cristi Field and Colby Palmersheim will lead tours of the facility.
