Eagles open season with three conference wins

The New York Mills Eagles split a pair of games in the Park Region Conference last week to improve to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
After falling to Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday by a score of 60-24, the Eagles were able to get by Pillager 54-50 as part of the Park Region Conference Showcase on Saturday in Sebeka.
This week the Eagles will host Lake Park-Audubon on Tuesday night, before traveling to Menahga to take on the undefeated Menahga Braves on Friday.
NY Mills will be participating in a tournament in Perham over the holiday break as they will take on Perham on Monday, Dec. 29 at 11:30 a.m., before returning to Perham for a game on Tuesday, Dec. 30 as part of the tournament.

NY Mills opened their season with a 73-23 win over Verndale on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The senior duo of Annika Dunrud and Gabi Vaden had a huge night from the floor for the Eagles as Dunrud finished with a double-double with 33 points to go along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Dunrud hit six 3-pointers in the win to lead the charge for the Eagles.
Vaden finished with 21 points to go along with five rebounds and six steals, while Chloe Costin was a force in the post throughout the night as she finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, along with a team-high five blocks.
Also scoring for the Eagles was Morgan Brunko with four points and Rosemary Laudenbach who chipped in with two points in the win.

The Eagles improved to 2-0 overall and in the conference with a 57-47 win over Sebeka on Friday, Dec. 5.
Annika Dunrud picked up her second straight double-double with 18 points to go along with 12 rebounds, while Gabi Vaden, Rosemary Laudenbach and Chloe Costin each finished with 13 points in the win.
In addition to her 13 points, Laudenbach finished with six rebounds and a team-high eight assists.
As a team the Eagles pulled down an outstanding 12 offensive rebounds in the win and had assists on 12 of their 18 made shots from the field.
