NYM defeats WDC76-72 to improve to 2-0

The New York Mills Eagles improved to 2-0 overall, as well as 2-0 in the Park Region Conference with a 76-72 win over Highway 10 rival Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday night.
After leading 33-28 at the halftime break, NY Mills was able to hang on in the second half to come away with the important early season win over the Wolverines, a team they beat by an identical score the last time they played last season.

The Eagles were led by a balanced scoring attack with Gage Brasel going 7-14 from the field to finish with 21 points, while Kolston Lofgren and Finn Roder each finished with 18 points. Bergen Roder also reached double figures with 10 points, while Heath Hammond scored three, Eli Vaughan scored two and Jacob Thorsrud rounded out the scoring with four points.
As a team, the Eagles forced 20 WDC turnovers and pulled down 36 total rebounds, including 11 from Finn Roder who finished with a double-double in the win.
This week the Eagles will travel to Frazee on Tuesday night, before hosting Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Thursday.
On Monday, Dec. 22 and Tuesday, Dec. 23 the Eagles will travel to Sebeka for the annual Sebeka Holiday Tournament to wrap up the 2025 portion of their schedule.
