NY Mills improves to 8-1 overall

The New York Mills Eagles improved to 8-1 on the season and 4-1 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of wins over Menahga and Browerville, as well as a narrow loss to Pillager.

The Eagles will take a bit of time away from the court this week as they will have eight days off in-between games. On Monday they traveled to Swanville in non-conference action and will not return to action until Tuesday, Jan. 20 when they travel to Henning on Tuesday to take on the top ranked Hornets.

Tuesday

NY Mills made quick work of Menahga on Tuesday night as the Eagles picked up their fourth conference win of the season, this time by a score of 73-42.

The Eagles were led offensively by Jacob Thorsrud who registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Finn Roder also recorded a double-double with 13 points to go along with a team-high 12 rebounds, while Kolston Lofgren scored 10 points, Gage Brasel scored eight, Bergen Roder scored eight, Heath Hammond scored five and Eli Vaughan, Sean Dresser, Jeremy Kopveiler, Carson Thorsrud and Trygg Roder rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.

Thursday

The Eagles improved to 8-0 overall with a tough 61-52 win over one of the top teams in Section 5A on Thursday night. The Eagles were once again led by Jacob Thorsrud who picked up his second straight double-double of the week with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Finn Roder and Bergen Roder each reached double figures with 10 points apiece. 

Gage Brasel had a solid day from the floor as he scored nine points to go along with nine points and seven rebounds. Kolston Lofgren scored seven points, Heath Hammond scored five and Eli Vaughan and Sean Dresser rounded out the scoring with three points apiece.

Friday

NY Mills had its eight game winning streak to start the season snapped on Friday night as the Eagles fell to Pillager 75-73 in Park Region Conference action. The Eagles and Huskies are now tied at 4-1 in conference action and are just one game behind Henning in the conference standings.

The Eagles were led by Kolston Lofgren who had a big night from the floor as he scored 22 points to go along with a pair of rebounds. Gage Brasel had another solid night across the board for NY Mills as he scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Sean Dresser scored 11 points, Finn Roder scored six points, Jacob Thorsrud scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds, Bergen Roder scored five points, Eli Vaughan scored three points and Heath Hammond rounded out the scoring with two points.
