In early January the Otter Cove Children’s Museum in downtown Fergus Falls hosted members of the Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club with a tour of their facility.
“We learned what Otter Cove is all about and saw the fishing vests and other fishing-related supplies that our club recently donated,” said Fish and Game Club President Mick Siems.
Otter Cove features immersive and hands-on exhibits to engage children up to the age of 10 as well as their adults who care for them.
“We believe that play is the primary driver of learning,” says Otter Cove Program Manager Amara Erickson. “We empower children to direct their own learning by playing out roles of community life.”
Kids can pretend they are fishing and cleaning fish, riding in a small school bus, operating a café, running a vet clinic, working in a dental office, taking part in a pretend picnic and enjoying fun activities on a small children’s stage. There also are indoor slides and other fun activities.
The children’s museum has outreach programs taken to communities throughout Otter Tail County. More information can be obtained by calling (218) 998-5437 or by doing a search of ottercoveff.org
