0The Community Cantata singers will present the Lenten Cantata “On a Hill Too Far Away” on March 29 and April 1, under the direction of Adam Tervola Hultberg and accompanied by Janell Brakell. The concerts will be Sunday, March 29 (Palm Sunday) at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills and Wednesday, April 1 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham at 6:30 p.m.
These concerts relate the events of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday through Christ’s death and resurrection in music and narration. This is a perfect way for listeners to center their thoughts on these events as they enter Holy Week.
Singers are needed for the Cantata choir. There is no audition and no cost involved; all singers are welcome. Interested singers should attend the February 15 rehearsal, then practice weekly until the performances. Practices are at 4 p.m. each Sunday, with the location alternating between the two churches where the Cantata will be performed. On Sunday, Feb. 15, the 4 p.m. rehearsal will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham. The February 22 rehearsal will be at Trinity Lutheran in New York Mills, followed by the March 1 rehearsal at St. Paul’s in Perham. The March 8 rehearsal will be at Trinity, and the March 15 rehearsal will be at St. Paul’s in Perham. The last two rehearsals will be dress rehearsals: March 22 at Trinity Lutheran in New York Mills, and Friday, March 27, at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church In Perham.
Interested singers are encouraged to come to the February 15 rehearsal at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham.
