Geiser, Ruther place fourth overall

Rose Tumberg took third, while Shauna Geiser and Ellyanna Ruther each took fourth place at the third annual Osakis Silverstreaks girls invitational tournament on Saturday.

Tumberg took third place at 118 lbs. after defeating Brooklyn Budeau of Sauk Centre-Melrose by a fall at 4:28. in the quarterfinals, Tumberg secured a pin over Gabrielle Schoon of Wadena-Deer Creek in 46 seconds to advance to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Tumberg fell to Myah Held of Pierz by a pin at 1:27 to drop to the third place match. Tumberg ended her day on a high note with a pin over Sophie Johnson of United North Central at 3:10 to finish in third place.

  Shauna Geiser finished in fourth place after securing a pair of pins in just 33 seconds and 3:52 in the opening two rounds of the 112 lbs. tournament. Geiser fell to Shelby Helmin of Milaca-Faith Christian by a tech fall to drop to the third place match. 

Geiser would go on to fall to Leah Greenwaldt of Staples-Motley by a 17-0 tech fall to finish in fourth place.

Also placing fourth was Ellyanna Ruther who secured a pin over Nina Ackerman-Kruger of Hopkins at 1:43 in the opening round of the 130 lbs. tournament, before securing an 8-0 major decision over Jolene Fosse of Otter Tail Central.
Ruther would go on to fall to Afton Vogt of Sauk Centre-Melrose at 1:44 in the semi-finals and fell to Janaya Albers of Thief River Falls at 4:42 in the third place match to finish in fourth place. 

Also placing for the Eagles was Makaya Oehrlein who took sixth place at 136 lbs.

As a team the Eagles finished in 10th place overall with a score of 65.5 points. Sauk Centre-Melrose won the tournament with 199 points with Wadena-Deer Creek finishing in second with 140 points. A total of 21 teams competed in the tournament.
