Audrey Weller is the 2025 New York Mills Civic Excellence Award recipient. She has requested that the award’s donation component be given to Valley Christian Counseling and Wellness for the amount of $200.

The New York Mills Civic Excellence Award is to promote a strong sense of citizenship with a focus on “service to others.” Service to others can be demonstrated through humanitarian efforts such as volunteerism or any activity that is completed with the intent of positively impacting the lives of others. Ideally, these efforts would be made with no intent or desire for personal gain or recognition. 

The NYM Civic Excellence Award is a two-part program that is based on the selection of a recipient in the spring of their junior year in high school. Part one recognizes the recipient’s civic excellence through a $200 donation. Part two awards the recipient with a $400 scholarship to be used for post-secondary education. 

Weller plans to attend Concordia University, Nebraska with majors in Education/Director of Christian Education.
