Embrace warmth, creativity and connection this winter at the second annual Hygge Market, happening Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center.

This unique event, which falls on Valentine’s Day this year, invites the community to slow down, savor the winter season, and celebrate the Danish concept of hygge—a feeling of coziness, comfort, and contentment.
This year’s Hygge Market expands in an exciting new way through a collaboration with the New York Mills Public Library. While the Cultural Center hosts a curated selection of artists and makers, the Library will feature local and regional authors, creating a richer, more vibrant market experience across both neighboring spaces.
Visitors can browse and shop from a wide variety of artists, makers and authors offering handmade goods, books, fiber arts, baked treats, coffee, soaps, prints and more. Confirmed participants include Farmhouse Bakery, JoZo Coffee, Sota Soap Co., Knitted Love, Holding Stones, Sunnyside Treats and numerous accomplished authors, including Alicia Underlee Nelson, Ben Underwood, Cindy Fox, James Wedgwood, Monica Lee and the Moorhead Friends Writing Group, among others.
In addition to shopping, attendees can participate in hands-on workshops inspired by Victorian-era Valentine traditions:
• Victorian Puzzle Purse Workshop- 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., $20 non-members / $17 members. Led by Artistic Director Megan Shirley-Ross, this guided workshop teaches participants how to create a Victorian-style folding love letter keepsake. Register online or call 385-3339.
• Victorian-Inspired “Heart in Hand” Make-and-Take- 12-2 p.m., free and open to all. A drop-in activity where participants create a symbolic paper Valentine representing love, friendship, and generosity.
Both workshops take place upstairs at the Cultural Center (accessible by stairs only and accommodations available by calling ahead).
The Hygge Market is free to attend and open to the public. Artist-made goods and books by regional authors will be available for purchase. For more information, call 385-3339 or email info@kulcher.org.
