The Ottertail City Council continued its push to make improvements to Ottertail Avenue and China Street, which could take place as soon as this summer.
During its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19, the city council moved forward with seeking bids for road improvements on China St. from Buchanan Road to Jackson Ave., as well as Ottertail Ave. from Trunk Highway 108 to a point approximately 280 feet north of China St. If the bids are higher than anticipated the council could hold off on awarding a bid and not move forward with the project. The estimated cost for the project was $246,000 and the construction contract could be awarded as soon as March 19.
If the city council moves forward with awarding a construction contract the work could be completed as soon as this summer.
In addition to seeking bids on the road project, the council accepted the following donations: $750 from Lake Region Electric Trust for the Ottertail Fire Department, $50 from Janice Johnson for the Ottertail Fire Department, $500 from Ottertail Convention and Tourism for the Ottertail Fire Department and $100 from Cynthia Obright for the Ottertail Fire Department.
Due to a brief agenda the meeting lasted just 17 minutes.
