NYM elementary wrestlers place fourth at state tournament

The New York Mills K-6 wrestling team recently finished fourth out of 32 teams in the state of Minnesota.
The team defeated Pierz by a score of 45-26, Caledonia/Houston 50-24, before falling to Wabasso 58-15 and Rocori 37-31 in the third place match.
In addition to the elementary team, the 7-8 grade team competed at the state tournament in Rochester where they gained some valuable experience on the mat. The 7-8th grade team fell to Foley 33-17, St. James/Madelia 33-16, ANML 27-24 and Farmington 32-15.
The Eagles defeated Staples-Motley 39-4 in pool action.
NY Mills also had four wrestlers place individually at state including: Leo Wegscheid who took third place in K 60, Teagan Saewert who took sixth place in 3-4 100, Brody Bernu who took fourth place in 5-6 115, and Oakley Kern who took fifth place in 7-8 105.
