The New York Mills track and field team took advantage of one of the nicer days of the spring on Friday for a small invite at Otter Tail Central. The Eagles finished with 44 boys team points and 27 girls team points at the meet. 

Elijah Geiser and Tony Nichols led the way for the Eagles as they duo picked up a trio of second place finishes, including a personal best by Geiser in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.66. Nichols secured a runner up finish and season best mark in the long jump with a jump of 18’4” and both individuals were part of the second place 4×200-meter relay that also included Justin Kassa and Chevy Herron that finished with a time of 1:42.13 and the 4×400-meter relay team that also included Grayson Meyer and Herron that finished with a time of 3:58.22. 

Kassa finished in fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 25.79, as well as fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 12.25. 

Herron posted a personal best int eh 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.53 and the 4×100-meter relay team of Meyer, Toivo Mursu, Brayton Boyne and Wyatt Helmbrecht finished in fourth place with a season best time of 58.55. 

On the girls side of the track, the Eagles fared well in the relay races with the 4×800-meter relay team of Bella O’Dea, Esne Lien, Zoey Nordquist and Resa Tumberg finishing in third place with a season best time of 13:28.51. The 4×400-meter relay team of O’Dea, Lien, Tumberg and Emily Peeters finished in fourth place with a season best time of 5:16.86, the 4×200-meter relay team of Makenna Brunko, Peeters, Mary Peterson and Payton Lausten finished in fourth place with a season best time of 2:04.56 and the 4×200-meter relay team of Rosie Tumberg, Lyla Hersch, Lilja Pakkala and Rachel Tumberg finished in fifth place with a time of 2:16.04.

Shaila Roberts finished in third place in the shot put with a season best throw of 30’5” and Peeters took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 29.33.

Lausten also finished in the top sixth individually with a sixth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a season best time of 59.51.
