Part of Window to the World: Finland 2026 Series

The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center invites the community to a captivating morning of Finnish storytelling and music with Kip Peltoniemi on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This special event was rescheduled from its original April 4 date due to weather.

Through engaging stories and live performance—including lively accordion music—Peltoniemi will share cultural insights, timeless tales, and the vibrant spirit of Finnish heritage. Known for his dynamic and interactive style, Peltoniemi creates an experience that is both entertaining and enriching for audiences of all ages.

Whether you’re a lover of storytelling, world music, or cultural experiences, this free program offers a meaningful way to connect, learn, and be inspired. Come discover Finland—no passport required.

This event is part of the Cultural Center’s Window to the World program, launched in 2018 to bring global cultures to rural Minnesota through hands-on learning opportunities connected to a travel experience. Inspired by the organization’s vision to “celebrate the local and provide a window to the world,” the program offers accessible cultural experiences for all—whether or not participants travel abroad. In 2026, the program centers on Finland, complementing a group trip taking place in June, while also inviting the broader community to explore Finnish culture close to home through workshops, performances, and events in Spring 2026.

This program is supported by a grant from the American Scandinavian Foundation.
