Eagles post 22 personal best times

Payton Lausten captured first place in the 300-meter hurdles and New York Mills trackster posted 22 personal bests at the United North Central Invite in Sebeka on Tuesday night.

Lausten posted a time of 1:00.28 in the 300-meter hurdles to capture first place and was a part of the 4×200-meter relay team that also included Makenna Brunko, Mary Peterson and Emily Peeters that took second place with a time of 2:04.7. 

In the discus, Lilja Pakkala posted a personal best with a throw of 75’, while Peeters posted a personal best in the long jump with a jump of 14’1” to also capture second place. 

The 4×400-meter relay team of Rosie Tumberg, Bella O’Dea, Resa Tumberg and Rachel Tumberg took fourth place with a season best time of 5:03.64, while O’Dea took fourth place in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 1:12.56

Also placing in the top six for the girls was Peeters who took fifth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.52 and Rosie Tumberg who took sixth place in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 1:14.07.

On the boys side, Justin Kassa posted a pair of personal bests to finish in second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.85 and third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.1. 

The 4×100-meter relay team of Grayson Meyer, Toivo Mursu, Elijah Geiser and Chevy Herron posted a season best time of 55.72 to finish in second place, while Tony Nichols posted a season best time of 18’11 3/4” in the long jump to finish in third place.

Carter Lien posted a personal best time in the 400-meter dash to finish in fifth place with a time of 1:01.62, while Meyer posted a personal best in the discus with a throw of 87’8”. Herron also posted a top six finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.3.

Head coach Steve Dunrud said it was nice to get the track teams back outside and competing against neighboring school districts. He said there were some very good performances throughout the meet for the Eagles, both on the track and in the field events. 

Also posting a person record, but finishing outside the top six, includes: Makenna Brunko – 400m Dash with a time of 1:19.11, Elliana Koshenina – 100m Dash with a time of 15.85, Kaylee Allen – Shot Put with a throw of 22’2”, Channing Frost – 400m Dash with a time of 1:24.70, Esne Lien – 400m Dash with a time of 1:27.41, Ella Holmes – Discus with a throw of 66’6”, Rachel Tumberg – Long Jump with a jump of 12’5” & High Jump with a jump of 3’10”, Loren Underdahl – 200m Dash with a time of 38.10, Toivo Mursu – Long Jump with a jump of 11’9 ½”,  Wyatt Helmbrecht – Long Jump with a jump of 13’11 ½”, Sawyer Pakkala – 200m Dash with a time of 35.83 & 400m Dash with a time of 1:18.36 and Garrett Lehmann – Shot Put with a throw of 26’8 ¾”.

Posting a season best time, but finishing outside of the top six, includes: Lily Roberts – 100m Dash with a time of 14.68, Kaitlynn Dittmann – 100m Dash with a time of 16.51, Lyla Hersch – 200m Dash with a time of 36.73, Lilja Pakkala – Long Jump with a jump of 10’1”, Rosie Tumberg – Long Jump with a jump of 12’1 ¾” and Rachel Tumberg – 200m Dash with a time of 30.95.
