The Deer Creek Lions Club and City of Deer Creek are one step closer to having expanded pickle ball court options in the community.

During its regularly scheduled meeting last week, the Deer Creek City Council discussed ongoing negotiations between Dominic Koep, who purchased the former Deer Creek School, and the city regarding the land.

The Deer Creek Lions Club has stated they would like to resurface the pickle ball and eventually the basketball courts in Deer Creek, but not unless the city owned the courts.

The city and Deer Creek Lions Club have agreed to split the cost of purchasing the land surrounding the basketball and pickle ball courts, but a finalized purchase agreement has not been reached. The Lions Club has also stated they would resurface the pickle ball court first, before moving on to the basketball court.

The council said it will continue to work with Koep and the Lions Club to get a purchase agreement finalized.
