NYM posts seven personal bests at section true team meet

The New York Mills Eagles made the trek to Frazee on Thursday for the annual Section 6A True Team meet.
Despite a cool breeze and temperatures, the Eagles posted seven personal bests and four season best times at the large meet.
The meet limits teams to just two competitors per event and each place the finishers get is worth up to 32 points based on how they finish.
First place is worth 32 points and 32nd place is worth just one point.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Tony Nichols who posted 72.75 points, while Justin Kassa finished with 51.75 points.
Carter Lien handed the baton to Justin Kassa in a relay last week.
On the girls side, Shaila Roberts finished with 51 points, while Emily Peeters finished with 38.25 points.
Posting a personal best time at the meet was Kaylee Allen in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.85, Rachel Tumberg in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.71, Rosie Tumberg in the high jump with a jump of 4’2”, Lila Pakkala in the triple jump with a jump of 22’2 1/2”, Grayson Meyer in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.77, Wyatt Helmbrecht in the discus with a throw of 77’3” and Garrett Lehmann in the shot put with a throw of 26’11 1/4”.
“All in all it was a very good meet for us. We’re very proud of the effort and accomplishments of our tracksters,” said head coach Steve Dunrud.
