The New York Mills Millers improved to 5-1 overall with a pair of wins over the Henning North Stars on Friday night. 

The Millers opened the night with a 1-0 walk-off win thanks to a Bode Roberts RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning.

After Derin Gaudette led off the inning with a single, Roberts broke a scoreless tie with two outs on a hard line driver hit to center field that brought Gaudette all the way home from first base. 

Braxton Ehnert and Hunter Holtti combined to strike out nine North Stars hitters and gave up just one hit over eight innings of action. The lone hit was a single to the second hitter of the game, while the duo gave up seven walks. 

Gaudette and Roberts led the way offensively with two hits apiece, while Zach Hocking was the only other hitter to connect with a hit in the game.

In the second game of the night, Derin Gaudette drove in five runs, including a bases clearing double in the top of the second inning to get the Millers on the scoreboard and a two-run double in the sixth inning to help NY Mills complete the two-game sweep over the North Stars by a score of 9-1. 

In addition to his big night from the plate, Gaudette struck out 11 batters and gave up just three hits over 5 2/3 innings to come away with the win on the mound. 

Already leading 3-1 in the top of the sixth inning, NY Mills broke the game open with six runs on three hits, including an RBI single by DaShaun Robinson, Gaudette’s two-run double and an RBI double by Brayden Ehnert. The Millers also scored a run on an error to help the cause. 

The Millers were led offensively by Gaudette, Bode Roberts and Creed Koll who all came away with two hits in the win.
