A Josh Dykhoff solo home run in the top of the fourth inning was all the run support the Bluffton Braves would need as they defeated the Perham Pirates by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday night. Dykhoff’s solo home run was one of just six hits for the Braves as Kobe Snyder followed the solo shot with a single and he would later score in the inning to give Bluffton a 2-0 lead.

From there, Tyson Barthel and Josh Dykhoff took over on the mound as they gave up just four hits and struck out nine Perham batters to give Bluffton an important Hi-10 league victory.

Barthel struck out seven hitters and gave up just four hits over eight innings, while Dykhoff pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the win. Dykhoff also picked up a pair of hits, including a solo home run to lead the way offensively.

Bluffton wrapped up its regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 win over Hawley.

The Braves got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning when Carson Davis picked up a walk with one out. He would later come around to score to put the Braves in front 1-0.

Bluffton broke the game open with a four run bottom of the seventh inning when they batted around the order. Isaac Hamann led off the inning with a walk, before Peyton Rondestvedt was hit by a pitch and Josh Dykhoff loaded the bases with a walk of his own. All three batters would later score, as well as Justin Dykhoff who connected with a single to make the score 5-0.

It would be all the run support Rondestvedt would need as he went seven innings and gave up just five hits, while striking out six batters. Isaac Kawlewski pitched the final two innings and gave up just one hit and two runs in relief.

The Braves will get a bit of a break from action before hosting the District 5B tournament from Aug. 8-9 and Saturday, Aug. 15.

The Braves will host NWB #2 on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. with the winner playing on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 12 p.m. with the loser falling to the elimination bracket that will be held later in the day on Aug. 8.
