Events to include parade, car show, fireworks, music

Bluffton Hometown Days will once again feature a large parade on Saturday afternoon, as well as live entertainment throughout the day.

One of the last big small town celebrations of the summer will kick off on Friday night as the Bluffton Hometown Days gets underway with a bang.

The weekend kicks off with the annual DJ’s Powerhouse Parking Lot Party on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. The night will include a car show with the winners voted on by those who attend the car show, food, cotton candy, face painting, homemade ice cream and live music featuring 8th Hour at DJ’s Powerhouse. The customer appreciation event will go until midnight. 

Beginning at 8 p.m. the Neon Blitz ball game will be held south of the park and the movie in the park will also get underway at 8 p.m. The annual fireworks show will be held at 9:30 p.m. to wrap up a busy opening day in Bluffton.

The festivities will continue on Saturday with a variety of events including food vendors, the tractor show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and kids inflatables from 11 a.m. to  6 p.m.

The first mosquito hunt clue will be posted at 12 p.m. and the coin scramble will get underway at 2 p.m. The parade will begin at 3 pm., before the bean bag tournament, jigsaw puzzle, Eric’s Dance Band and NYM FFA pedal pull begin at 4 p.m.

The day will come to a close with a bike giveaway at 6 p.m. and a street dance featuring Rhino from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

In addition to all of the festivities in the heart of Bluffton, Terry Geiser Field will be hosting the District 5B amateur baseball championship game between the hometown Bluffton Braves and the Bemidji Blue Ox beginning at 11 a.m. If the Braves win the opening game of the day they will advance to state, while if Bemidji wins the opening game the two teams will play again at 1:30 p.m. in a winner-take-all contest.
