While there may be a few new faces inside the walls of Gibb’s #10 Sales in New York Mills, the values and focus of providing quality vehicles, small-town values and taking care of the customers who are seeking that perfect used vehicle will continue for new owners Randy and Ashley Mumm.  ¶  The rural Wadena family officially took over Gibb’s #10 Sales from Gary and Melissa Wegscheid, who purchased the business in 2016, on July 30.  ¶  “I have been in the auto industry for 20 plus years,” said Randy, who most recently served as the general manager of Kal’s Kars in Wadena. “I just thought it was a chance to get out and do it on my own.”  ¶  Gibb’s #10 Sales was started by Gilbert Wegscheid in 1986 and the used car lot has continued to serve the greater NY Mills area ever since.  ¶  Randy complimented the work done by Julius Aho, as well as Gary and Melissa Wegscheid over the years as they provided quality vehicles at an affordable price at the highly visible used car lot in town. While the name will remain the same, Randy said they are planning to have more vehicles on the lot than before as he hopes to average 30-35 vehicles at a time, while also increasing their presence online.The transition to general manager at Kal’s Kars in Wadena to owner of Gibb’s #10 Sales in NY Mills happened rather quickly as Randy said Gary reached out to him just a few months ago to gauge his interest in potentially taking over the operation.

“I think Gary reached out to me two months ago and it was like it was meant to be,” said Randy due to the quick nature and ease of the sale. 

Though they are somewhat new to the business industry in NY Mills, Ashley’s mom grew up in NY Mills and was a preschool teacher in town as well. The couple has four children who all attend Wadena-Deer Creek School.

In addition to Randy and Ashley, Dan Sweere will be joining the staff and will be focused on providing financing options for used vehicles purchased at the lot. That is one thing that Randy said he is especially excited about as financing can be done in house, as opposed at another banking or credit institution somewhere else. 

Randy said there may be some minor changes made over time, but a lot of what happens at Gibb’s #10 Sales will remain the same as it has for the past 40 years, including the time to stop and visit over a cup of coffee with those who make the trek to Highway 10 on the edge of town.
