Last Tuesday the New York Mills cross country team traveled to Whitetail Golf Course to compete in the Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational. 

In the junior high girl’s race Millie Schik took 10th out of 36 runners and in the junior high boy’s race Layton Meyer placed 12th out of 63 runners. 

Sadie Hotakainen and Chavez Cannon were NY Mills’ top finishers in their respective varsity races while Matthew Freyholtz, Layton Meyer, Bailey Hammond, Helena Kimber and Millie Schik all had a personal record. 

At the conclusion of the meet Coach Greg Esala said, “It is early in the season and we are already seeing our runners improving their times.  The hard work they put in at practices is paying off!”

On Thursday the Eagle runners will travel to Ada to compete in their invitational meet.
