It was a celebratory day at the new Perham Tennis Courts on Thursday, Sept. 24, when members of the Perham Chamber of Commerce joined the Perham/New York Mills Girls Tennis team for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Although the weather hampered the game action scheduled after the ceremony, it did not dampen the spirits of the players, coaches, administration, and others who put in long hours to make these new tennis courts a reality.

Before the brief ceremony, Perham Activities Director Erin Anderson spoke about the project and its completion.

“This is really an exciting day for our tennis program and for our entire community,” Anderson said. “These courts provide our tennis athletes with a great place to practice, compete, and continue to build our program.”

Anderson added that it was a great facility for the tennis programs; it’s a great facility for the Perham community.

“This is a community facility, and we are excited that these courts will provide another great place for our students, families, and community members to enjoy the sport of tennis for years to come,” Anderson said.

Anderson thanked ICS, which managed the project and helped guide it from planning to completion. He also thanked Hammers Construction for the work they put into bringing this project to life in the community. There were a few other local contractors that worked on the project as well, and the tennis program is grateful for their support.

“We are also very grateful for the support of our school district, our community, and everyone who has had a part in making this facility a reality,” Anderson said.
