0Last Tuesday afternoon on a wet day the New York Mills Eagles cross country team traveled to the Double Eagle Golf Course and competed in the meet hosted by Bertha-Hewitt.
In the junior high girls’ race, Millie Schik took sixth place. In the junior high boys’ race Finn Costin and Gus Tumberg ran very well. In the varsity girls’ race, Sadie Hotakainen was the top runner for NY Mills and Bailey Hammond had a personal best (PR). In the varsity boys’ race, Dawson Seelhammer led the Eagles with another PR. Also in that race, Izaya Cannon, Matthew Freyholtz and Loren Underdahl each had a PR.
According to Coach Greg Esala, the team is improving each week as their season starts to wind down. Mills will run on Thursday in the Otter Tail Central meet held at Balmoral Golf Course.
