On Friday the New York Mills crosss country team traveled to Bagley for the Section 8A meet and ran very well with five runners collecting a personal record, PR. They were: Helena Kimber, Layton Meyer, Izaya Cannon, Matthew Freyholtz and Loren Underdahl.

For the girls, Sadie Hotakainen was the first Eagle to finish the race and for the boys it was Dawson Seelhammer. The Eagles have greatly improved their times this year with many of them cutting numerous minutes off their previous times and some even close to five minutes.

After the meet Coach Greg Esala said, “coaching these athletes this season has been very enjoyable because they know how to push themselves to do their best. Their hard work and great effort give them much to be proud of.”

The Eagles’ cross country team should have even greater success next year as they will return their entire team.

Coach Heidi Dresser added, “I can’t wait for August and the beginning of next year’s season. It will be exciting to be a part of.”
