0Margaret Grefe, age 92 of Henning, Minnesota passed away on March 15, 2023 at Willow Creek Assisted Living in Henning. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail. Margaret was laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ottertail.
Margaret Irene Cloeter was born on July 16, 1930 to Arnold and Lola (Nollman) Cloeter in Annandale, Minn. She attended Henning High School, graduating with the class of 1948. Following high school, Margaret worked as a nurse aide at Wesley Hospital in Wadena.
On August 13, 1950, Margaret was united in marriage to Orville R. Grefe at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Together they made their home on the Grefe family farm where they worked and lived until their retirement in 1991 when they moved to Ottertail. On October 31, 1996, Orville passed away.
Margaret was an active member of St Johns Lutheran Church. She followed in her Mother’s footsteps becoming a volunteer braille transcriber. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed needlework, doing puzzles, and exercising with her friends at the community center. Most of all she loved caring for her family.
Preceding Margaret in death are her parents: Arnold and Lola Cloeter; husband: Orville; son, Ron; siblings: Rhoda, Herbert, and Richard.
Margaret is survived by her loving children: Karen (Mike Lee) Grefe of Tumwater, Wash.; Judy (Daryl) Zeise of Deer Creek; Dick (Denise) Grefe of Ottertail; Brenda (Terry) Grewe of Battle Lake; Janet Grefe of Fargo, N.D.; and Vicki (Doug) Anderson of Henning; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; siblings: Pauline (Rich) Riemer of Perham; David Cloeter of Perham; and Carol (Herb) Hoefer of Portland, Ore.; brother and sisters-in-law: Lowell (Audrey) Brutlag; Kathy Cloeter; and Charlotte Grefe; many other relatives and a host of friends.
