Millers to host Braves in fireworks game on Saturday

The New York Mills Millers improved to 9-2 overall with a pair of wins against Sebeka and Clarissa.
The Millers will host the Bluffton Braves in the annual fireworks baseball game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Following the game, a large fireworks show for the Fourth of July will take place on the football field.
Friday
The Millers made the most of their 8 hits and 4 Sebeka errors as they came away with a 13-4 win over the Stingers on Friday night.
The Millers actually trailed by a score of 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, before Shawn Schmitz hit an RBI double and Austin Maneval gave NY Mills the lead with a sacrifice fly to right field to make the score 4-3.
After Sebeka tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth inning, the Millers scored 3 runs to take the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning when Shawn Schmitz scored on a single, Adam Patron scored on an error and Finn Roder and Jonah Johnson scored on a fielder’s choice to give NY Mills an 8-4 lead.
NY Mills added 2 more runs in the seventh inning on wild pitches and 3 more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to come away with the 13-4 win.
Brandon Kupfer and Schmitz led the way offensively with a pair of hits, while Derin Gaudette finished with 3 RBIs.
Dashaun Robinson picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Maneval as he went 5 innings and struck out 7 hitters. He gave up just 3 hits and 1 earned run.

Jonah Johnson picked up 4 hits, including 2 doubles and scored 3 runs as the Millers blew past Clarissa 12-3 on Sunday. The Millers took advantage of 5 Clarissa errors and pumped out 11 hits as a team.
Derin Gaudette broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fifth inning when he connected on an RBI single to bring Caden Roberts across the plate. Jacob Guck made the game 3-1 later in the inning when he cross the plate on a passed ball.
NY Mills broke the game open in the top of the sixth inning when Jacob Guck hit an RBI single, Gaudette hit an RBI double, Guck scored on a passed ball and Brandon Kupfer hit a sacrifice fly in succession to give the Millers as 7-1 lead. NY Mills added another run in the seventh inning and 4 more in the top of the eighth inning to come away with the win.
In addition to Johnson’s big day, Gaudette finished with 3 hits and 2 RBIs, including a pair of doubles.
Roberts picked up the win on the mound in relief of Skylar Mursu after going 3 1/3 innings and giving up 4 hits and no runs.
