Insurance is one of life’s great balancing acts. While you don’t want to be paying for more insurance than you need, you also want to make sure you have enough insurance that when faced with a tragic life experience you have the right insurance to take care of all of your needs.

How to pick the right insurance on your own can be similar to navigating a tangled web of what ifs, what may be and what never might come to fruition.

Fortunately for area residents, the experts at Klein Insurance are here to help individuals and businesses work through the challenge of picking the right insurance package to meet the needs of clients both today and in the future. Since there is no one-size-fits all plan that works for everyone, Chris Klein of Klein Insurance said his staff really gets to know each of their clients on a personal level to select the right insurance package to meet their needs.

“That’s one of the things we do. There is no one plan where this is the best plan for everyone. It really is an individual thing,” he said. “That’s what our job is, and what we want to do, is find a plan that fits a persons needs and fits them well.”

Klein said picking the right insurance can be frustrating, confusing and a bit mysterious. He enjoys the opportunity to guide people through the process so they know they have the right coverage should the day ever come in which they need to make an insurance claim. Unlike many industries, utilizing an independent insurance agent in purchasing insurance, like Klein Insurance, doesn’t cost any additional money.

“I enjoy making it understandable for people. I enjoy helping people make sense out of it and most of all insurance is about security and peace of mind. I get a lot of satisfaction of being able to sit down with people and getting a grasp on financial security,” said Klein. “I enjoy that I get to be involved in something where I can give people peace of mind so they don’t have to worry about a financial catastrophe.”

One example of a catastrophic incident comes for an emergency like a lengthy hospital stay. An emergency room visit can be the difference between life and death, but it can also leave patients with a large hospital bill and no way to pay the tab should the person not have insurance, or at the very least, the right kind of insurance coverage. Klein said his insurance agents take great pride in giving clients peace of mind to know they will have the best coverage possible to cover the different things they could encounter later in life.

Insurance is at the forefront at the minds of many people in the region of late as the open enrollment period for coverage began on October 15 and will continue through December 7. Open enrollment is the annual opportunity for people to enroll in a private health insurance plan, or to renew or make changes to their current plan. Klein said now is a great time of year for people to sit down with an insurance agent to look at their coverage, their needs both now and over the next year, and pick out a plan to make sure they have the best possible coverage before heading into the new year.

While health insurance is an important aspect of Klein Insurance, especially during the open enrollment period, Klein said his company insures everything from houses to farms, businesses and everything in-between. With offices in New York Mills, Wadena, Eagle Bend, Park Rapids and Lake Park, his company is large enough to have experts in specialized fields like farming, but small enough to still offer personalized care to its clients.

“Another nice feature of our agency, even though we cross train our employees, is we do have specialists in certain areas,” said Klein.

As an independent insurance agency, Klein Insurance can shop around for the right plan for clients, as opposed to simply offering just one insurance company.

“We are an independent agency so we represent multiple companies. We have a lot of agents with diverse skill sets,” said Klein. “We also care about and are involved in our local communities.”

Klein Insurance began with a single office in Eagle Bend in 1976 by Klein’s father Ken Klein. Today the insurance agency has offices in New York Mills, Wadena, Park Rapids, Eagle Bend and Lake Park, which can all serve clients at Klein Insurance.

Klein recently wrap up his 27th year with the insurance agency.

While the company continues to grow, the same family values and personal approach to insurance continues to be at the core of everything that staff members of Klein Insurance do on a daily basis.
