Deann Louise Longbella was born on August 23, 1937, in Two Harbors, Minn. Her parents were the late Roy and Mary Jane (MacFarlane) Longbella.
The Longbella family moved to Staples, Minn. when Deann was a couple of months old. She attended Staples High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. After graduation she resided in Minneapolis, Minn. and was employed as a bookkeeper in banking.

Deann took such pride in supporting her children with caring for her grandchildren and loved the time she spent with them when they were young. And if you’ve ever had her famous pink angel food cake, you were one of the lucky ones.
