Second ranked Yellowjackets improve to 23-0 on the season

0Tennis team defeats Fergus Falls, Alexandria in regular season finale

The Perham/New York Mills tennis team improved to 230- last week with three wins over Wadena-Deer Creek, Fergus Falls and Alexandria. The Yellowjackets are currently ranked second in th state and trial just Blake in the state rankings.
The doubles tournament will kick off on Thursday in Park Rapids, while the team and singles tournament will be held from Oct. 10-12 at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
Tuesday
The Perham/NY Mills tennis team kicked off their final week of the regular season with a commanding 6-1 win over Wadena-Deer Creek. The Yellowjackets swept the singles matches, giving up a total of three games in the win, while the second and third doubles teams also captured a straight set win.
In the singles matches Kaia Anderson won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, before Alayna Moe, Violet Radniecki and Autumn Branchaud won 6-0, 6-1 at second through fourth singles.
The lone loss for the Yellowjackets came at first doubles when Anna Fiemeyer and Kaylee Endres from WDC defeated Morgan Smith and Aubry Zimmerman in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
The second doubles team of Lucy Wallgren and Bella Huwe won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 and the third doubles team of Andie Janke and Miley Anderson won 6-4, 6-4 to complete the 6-1 win for Perham/NY Mills.

Thursday
Perham/NY Mills completed a perfect 23-0 regular season with a pair of wins over Fergus Falls 4-3 and Alexandria 6-1.
In their match against the Otters, all eyes were on the third singles match between Violet Radniecki and Ali Bredenberg as Radniecki won the first set 6-3, before falling 4-6 in the second set. In a back-and-forth set from the opening serve, Radniecki was able to defeat Bredenberg to give the Yellowjackets that all-important fourth win.
The Yellowjackets actually swept the rest of the singles matches in straight sets, while Fergus Falls won all three of the doubles matches in straight sets.
In their match against the Cardinals, the Yellowjackets won all three singles matches and took both the first and second doubles matches to pick up the win.
All of the matches were straight sets except for at second singles when Alayna Moe won 7-5, 0-6, 10-8 to come away with the win.
At second doubles Lucy Wallgren and Bella Huwe overcame a first set 6-3 loss to overtake Faith Odland and Lucy Witte 6-1, 11-9 to come away with the win.
