Edward B. Nylund “Nippy” was born on February 14, 1941 and passed away on November 12, 2024, after a long-term battle with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus and Dementia. 

Ed grew up in New York Mills, and was the youngest of six kids. He was the proudest Finn you could ever meet. He graduated from New York Mills High School in 1960 and later served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. After returning home from war, he moved to Minneapolis with a buddy, met Carol, and they married in 1972. They made their home in Minneapolis where they remained up until his passing. Ed worked his entire career at Timesavers as a machinist. He was an avid deer hunter and loved coming home to Mills to hunt in his younger years. 

He survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol, Daughter, Heather (Richard), Son, John (Mary Beth), three grandkids and 4 great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Jacob and Lempi Nylund, Sisters, Shirley, Marcy, Doris, Betty, and brother, Marlin. 

Visitation for Edward will be at Washburn McReavy Edina on Thursday, November 21 at 10 a.m. followed by 11 a.m. service. Immediately following services, he will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling. Additional funeral arrangements can be found on Washburn McReavy’s website.
