Winner Earns Trip to Washington, D.C.

A winning essay will earn one area high school student an expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., next spring to visit the capital and learn about the rural broadband industry as part of the Foundation for Rural Service Youth Tour.

Arvig will sponsor the winner of its essay contest to attend the 2025 FRS Youth Tour from June 2 to 6,2025. Students in the Arvig service area are invited to submit an essay that answers the question, “How is Arvig-Connected Technology Useful to You?”

The student will be part of a group of more than 100 students from across rural America in getting a first-hand opportunity to tour the capital and learn about the federal government’s role in the rural broadband industry.

Arvig will accept essay submissions until Tuesday, April 1, 2025. A winner will be announced on April 10, 2025.

The tour provides a forum for teens to meet and interact with their peers from other rural communities, as well as key legislative, regulatory and government figures. The Youth Tour delegates will explore historic sites including Arlington National Cemetery,
Capitol Hill, Mount Vernon, Lincoln Memorial, Washington National Cathedral, the U.S. Supreme Court and Smithsonian Institution.
