0Funeral services for William “Billy” Steinbach age 79, of New York Mills, were held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with Pastor Kirk Douglas officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Janell Brakel. The pallbearers were Cody Steinbach, Taylor Moss, Brady Blickenstaff, Robert Meyer, Travis Olson and Steve Steinbach. Honorary pallbearers were Don Lafferty, Clyde Gimbel and Brian Olson. Billy was laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills.
William “Billy” Edward Steinbach was born on February 18, 1945 at St. James Hospital in Perham. His parents were the late Walter and Margaret (Dulski) Steinbach. Billy attended New York Mills High School and graduated with the Class of 1963. After graduation he worked construction for a short time.
He was united in marriage to Jeanne Carol Kauppi on August 7, 1965 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Butler. Their marriage was blessed with two children: Krista and Brent.
Billy was employee #16 when Lund Boats began. He was employed there for 43 years, retiring in 2008.
Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting deer and turkeys, and anything outdoors. He loved the Steinbach River Bottom Riviera, bonfires, saunas and especially visits with family and friends.
On December 13, 2024 Billy passed away at Perham Living in Perham, at 79 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Billy in death were his parents, Walter and Margaret; wife, Jeanne; brother, Roger Steinbach; sister-in-law, Darlene Steinbach and brother-in-law, Tom Andrews.
Billy is survived by his children: Krista (Leon) Moss, and Brent (Missy) Steinbach; grandchildren: Logyn (Brady) Blickenstaff, Taylor (Ashley) Moss, Cody Steinbach and Shelby (Robert) Meyer, great-grandchildren: Daxon, Kyson, Gracie, Mila, Maci, Sawyer and Raye; siblings: Bob (Mary Ann) Steinbach, Jim Steinbach, Joyce Andrews, Judy (Brian) Olson and Mary (Steve) Bohne; many other relatives and a host of friends.
