The New York Mills High School knowledge bowl competed at two contests recently. The first took place at Concordia College in Moorhead on December 20.

In a field of 26 teams in the mid-sized school division one team took ixth place and the other finished in 11th. The sixth place team consisted of (below left) Lucy Wallgren, Soren Stout, Colson Keskitalo and Elijah Geiser. The team in 11th was made up of Brienna Honer, Aubrey Barthel, Alex Mack, and Eli Aho.

The team also competed in Fergus Falls on January 7.  There our two teams finished in third and fourth place out of 17 teams competing against Fergus Falls, Osakis, Breckenridge, and Minnewaska schools.  The team that snagged fourth also won the award for doing the best on the math questions throughout the day. On the third place team (from left to right) were Dylan Selander, Alex Mack, Colson Keskitalo, and Eli Aho (below right).  On the fourth place team and winning the math award were (right) Elijah Geiser, Lucy Wallgren, Brienna Honer, Isaac Geiser, and Aubrey Barthel.

Knowledge bowl consists of a round of written questions done as a team, followed by four oral rounds where each team has to “buzz” in and answer the question correctly to score.
