New York Mills Home School senior Jada Goeson (right) took eighth place at the state track meet on Wednesday.

Goeson competed in the girls 1600-meter run at St. Michael-Albertville High School and finished with a time of 5:16.77. She narrowly edged Julie Schmidt of Border West who took ninth place with a time of 5:16.97 to wrap up her high school track meet with a podium finish at state.

Audrey Brownell of Staples-Motley won the event with a time of 5:02.28. 

This is the third time Goeson advanced to the state cross country meet.
