The New York Mills Eagles fishing team continued their strong season on Thursday, July 17, during the Heart O’ Lakes High School Fishing League tournament on Star Lake.

Leading the way for the Eagles was the team of Toivo Mursu, Mason Lubitz and boat captain Ryan Strugar, who brought home a third-place finish after a solid night on the water. In fifth place was the team of Sadie Hotakainen and Lily Grieger, captained by Josh Balcer.

Rounding out the Eagles’ top finishers was the seventh-place team of Elijah O’Dea, Wyatt Helmbrecht and Garrett Lehman, led by boat captain Matt Richter.

The Eagles showed consistency across the leaderboard and will look to carry that momentum into the season championship on Aug. 9.
