0Otter Tail County is developing a comprehensive road safety plan as part of the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All initiative and requests public input to inform the plan.
The Safety Action Plan aims to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries by identifying high-risk areas and prioritizing data-driven, community-informed solutions.
As part of this effort, the county has launched an interactive online comment map, allowing residents to pinpoint and describe safety concerns on county-owned roads and facilities. Citizens can report items of note, such as hazardous intersections, inadequate pedestrian infrastructure, or areas with a history of frequent near-miss incidents. The feedback received will help guide future safety improvements.
County Engineer Krysten Foster said that community participation is vital to the success of this plan.
“By sharing your experiences and concerns, you’re helping Otter Tail County build a safer, more accessible transportation network for all. This is a critical step toward securing federal funding for future safety projects,” said Foster.
