The New York Mills Millers had their season come to a close on Friday night with a 6-5 loss to Urbank.
The Millers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Brayden Ehnert led off the inning with a double. He didn’t stay on second for very long as Zach Hocking followed with an RBI double to make the score 1-0. Finn Roder came through later in the inning with a sacrifice fly to left field to bring Hocking in from third base to take a 2-0 lead.
NY Mills added a pair of runs in the top of the third inning when Hocking hit a two out single to bring Bode Roberts across the plate and Adam Patron earned a bases loaded walk to force in the fourth run of the game.
Logan Small would score what would be the final run of the game for the Millers with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning with two outs to give the Millers a 5-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the Bombers would go on to score six unanswered runs to come away with a 6-5 win and end the Millers season with a record of 16-5 in the region tournament.
Roberts had a solid night at the plate with four hits, while Hocking, Ehnert and Patron each finished with two hits.
Austin Maneval started the game for the Millers and pitched four solid innings, before DaShaun Robinson went the final five innings and was solid on the mound.
Urbank would go on to defeat Perham 6-1 in the elimination bracket to secure the second seed from Region 11C and qualify for state. Sauk Centre captured the top spot in the region with a 4-1 win over Perham.
