0NYM concert is postponed due to COVID-19 concerns
The Aby Wolf + Champagne Confetti concert presented by the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center has been rescheduled to Friday, March 11 due to COVID-19.
Aby Wolf and Champagne Confetti is an evening of new works for strings, voices, percussion and electronics performed by a cast of renowned musicians and friends. This rescheduled concert will be held at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
Through a creative process based in improvisation resulting in atypical song structures, Champagne Confetti is a practice in embracing uncertainty. It blurs the lines between ambient neo-minimalism, chamber music, and electro-R&B. It is inspired by the imminent universal need to find footing in an unstable world, and on both a personal and global scale, these new compositions explore that uncertainty.
Wolf is the recipient of a 2020 Minnesota State Arts Board Arts on Tour grant, which along with support from the NY Mills Regional Cultural Center, brings this new project and residency to the NY Mills region.
Wolf is a vocalist and composer who frequently collaborates with artists across the genres of hip hop, R&B, electronic, rock, folk, jazz, and experimental music. She has worked and collaborated with a diverse range of artists from Dessa and Doomtree to The New Standards, Chastity Brown and JT Bates Grain Trio to the MN Orchestra, and released 4 stylistically diverse solo albums to critical acclaim.
As a solo artist she has extensively toured throughout the United States, as well as in the U.K, Ireland, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany and performs at some of the Twin Cities finest venues (Walker Art Center, Fitzgerald Theater, Orchestra Hall, First Ave). She was named “Best Female Vocalist” and “Artist of the Year” by City Pages.
Additionally, she has served as vocal director for many productions, most recently, “Dessa with the Minnesota Orchestra.” She has been awarded Artist Initiative, Arts Learning and Arts on Tour grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and she has been recognized for excellence by the American Composers Forum and received commissions from the Cedar Cultural Center as well as the Prairie Fire Lady Choir.
