A Celebration of Life was held for Lillian Mindermann, age 78 of New York Mills, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with Pastor Kirk Douglas officiating. Music was provided by Gary Bach. Lillian will be laid to rest in Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, Minn. 

Lillian Helen Nurmi was born on February 21, 1942 in Otter Tail County, rural New York Mills. Her parents were the late Herbert Nurmi and Helen (Hepokoski-Nurmi) Bernu.  Lillian grew up in and attended New York Mills High School.  

On April 25, 1959 Lillian was united in marriage to John Edwin Mindermann at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mils. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Lillian and John made their home in rural New York Mills. Lillian enjoyed working with John as a bookkeeper for their carpentry business, and as a finishing carpenter for 10 years.  She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, cooking, sewing, sightseeing  and visiting with family and friends. 

On January 23, 2021 Lillian passed away at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, N.D., at 78 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Lillian in death were her parents, Herbert and Helen; and brother, Don Hepokoski. 

Lillian is survived by her husband, John of New York Mills; daughters: Marcia Abbott of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Lynn (Lory) Brasel of Dayton, Minn.; sons: Daniel Mindermann of New York Mills; David (Lori) Mindermann of Red Lake Falls, Minn.; Joel (Sheri) Mindermann of Kasson; Paul (Rachel) Mindermann of New York Mills; and Peter (Amy) Mindermann of Ottertail; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Bette (Donald) Hietala of St. Louis Park, Minn. and Kathie (Robert) Nelson of Cross Lake, Minn.; many other relatives and a host of friends.
