0Funeral Mass was held for Alvina Feela, age 91, of Alexandria, Minn., on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena with Fr. Aaron Kuhn officiating. Alvina was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena.
Alvina Teresa Karst was born May 10, 1933, to Frank and Teresa (Gast) Karst in Pierz, Minn. She graduated with the class of 1951 from St. Margaret’s Academy in Minneapolis, Minn. After graduation, she was employed at John Thomas where she was a bookkeeper. She was also a secretary at Twin City Federal & Loan.
Alvina married Jerome Feela on May 4, 1957, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup, Minn. After their marriage they resided in Minneapolis until they moved to Wadena in 1964 where they farmed until they retired in 2016 and moved to Deer Creek.
Alvina had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed embroidery and crocheting as well as reading, but mostly she loved spending time with family and friends. Alvina was president of Christian Mothers and taught CCD for more than 13 years. She also administered communion during mass. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother.
Alvina was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Feela; parents, Frank and Teresa Karst; daughters Jeri Lynn Sweazey and infant daughter Mary Teresa; sister, Leona Moeller and brother, Frank Karst.
Alvina will be dearly missed by all who survived her including her daughters: Jeanine (Scott) Kirckof of Alexandria, Minn.; Dawn (David) Spartz of Little Falls, Minn. and Cynthia Feela (Rick Haroldson) of Sauk Centre, Minn.; sons: Douglas Feela of Osakis, Minn.; Rick (Pam) Feela of Derry, N.H.; Mark Feela of Sauk Centre, Minn.; and Jerome Feela, Jr. (Sherilyn Rasmusson) of Wadena; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of family and friends.
