Bonnie Steeke, age 90, of Perham, entered into her Heavenly Home on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Perham Living Nursing Home.
Bonnie was born on June 19, 1931, to Fred and Pauline (Huwe) Rader at home in Evergreen, Minn.
Bonnie was Baptized on July 1, 1931, and confirmed on June 2, 1946, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Spruce Grove, Minn. She attended rural country school in Evergreen & Spruce Grove Townships. After her schooling, Bonnie worked at a Perham Coffee Shop.
On October 19, 1949, she married the love of her life, Edward Henry Steeke, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Spruce Grove, MN. Together they had four children. Bonnie worked at her husband’s side on their Family Dairy Farm in Corliss Township until 1989, when their son & daughter-in-law, Kim & Sharie, took it over.
She was very active in her church, St. John’s Lutheran Church (Corliss), a longtime member of Mary & Martha Society. She worked at Perham Memorial Home in the late 80’s and early 90’s, serving meals to the residents, which included her mother Pauline. She and Ed also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Some of Bonnie’s many passions were baking, gardening, homemaking, traveling and being with her beloved family & friends.
Surviving Bonnie are her four children: Sandy (Darrel) Carstens of Perham, Debra (Tague) Damberg of Perham, Rhonda (Loren) Koehler of New York Mills, and Kim (Sharie) Steeke of Perham; 11 grandchildren, Darin Carstens, Ryan Carstens, Matthew (Mandy) Carstens, Joshua Damberg, Jacqueline Damberg, Alexis (Andy) Goeson, Lindsey (Adam) Carlson, Whitney (Tyler) Wegscheid, Michael (Tessany) Steeke, Marissa (Gabe) Pankonin, and Mattea Steeke; 13 great grandchildren, Graham and Penny Carstens, Jada, Jett, Jemma, and Jax Goeson, Alexandra and Isabelle Carlson, Jade, Greta, and Leo Wegscheid, Malachi and Magnolia Pankonin; sister, Denise Zepper, of Perham; sisters-in-law, Gloria Rader of Perham, and Doris Quast of Aurora, Ill.
Preceding Bonnie in death were her beloved husband, Edward; her parents, Fred and Pauline Rader; mother and father-in-law, Carl and Amalia Steeke; brothers, Dennis Rader, Clarence Quast, Louis Quast, Lloyd Rader and George Rader; sisters, LaVerna Rader, Dorothy Albright and Marie Bauck.
A heartfelt Thank You to Perham Home Health for all the years of care and company you gave Our Mom. She considered you all wonderful friends and to Perham Living and Hospice, of Red River Valley, for your loving care and comfort until Jesus took her home.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, December 9 with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Corliss Township. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 10 at church. Burial at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery (St. John’s Lutheran South).
Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church (Corliss Township), Perham.
