Funeral services for 90-year-old Carl Sundeen were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, Madison.  Rev. Eric Spickelmier officiated at the service. Special music was Anna Spickelmier, pianist, and Harlowe and Denise Anderson, Duet. 

Active casket bearers were; Barrett Wittnebel, Nicole Gabriel, Lance Wittnebel, Daidre Vaala-Logeasi, Walker Vaala, Sean Vaala, Cody Tucholke and Hayley Tucholke.

The concluding burial and service was in Hayden, Cemetery, Madison, Minn.

Carl and his twin brother Eddy were born on December 5, 1933, to Carl and Lucille Sundeen in Silverdale, Minn.  He died peacefully at his home in Madison on March 19, 2024 with his family by his side.  In 1951, he graduated from Cook, MN High School. He attended and graduated from Bethel University in 1961. During that time he also served honorably in the United States Navy.

In 1956, he married Helen Messenger and they were blessed with three daughters, Jill, Carmen, and Pamela.  The family moved to New York Mills, in 1961 where Carl accepted a teaching position.  He taught Biology, Psychology, and Life Science.  He also coached football and was activities director for thirty-five years.  He retired in 1996.  Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and spending time with family. Most of all he loved the Lord and wanted to serve Him.

Carl is survived by his wife Helen, daughters Jill and Blake Wittnebel of Madison, Minn., Carmen and Bruce Vaala of Madison, Minn., Pamela and Steven Tucholke of Bloomington, Minn., eight Grandchildren, seventeen Great Grandchildren, sisters Lorraine Carlson and Hope Blomberg and brother Eddy and Jackie Sundeen.
