Services were held for Cheryl Romann, age 63 of Perham, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Corliss Township, rural Perham, with Pastor Justin Whitmore officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Jennifer Blickenstaff. The urn bearer was Tyler Papenfuss. Cheryl was laid to rest at St. John’s Church Cemetery of Corliss Township, rural Perham.

Cheryl Lynn Papenfuss was born on July 3, 1960, in Wilmar, Minn. Her parents were the late Robert and Linda (Hoffmann) Papenfuss. Cheryl was baptized on July 24, 1960, and confirmed on April 28, 1974, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Corliss Township. She attended Perham High School and graduated from the Wadena Vocational Technical College in Wadena, with a degree in secretarial administration.

On March 1, 1977, Cheryl was united in marriage with David Romann in Sisseton, S.D. On April 16, 1977, Cheryl and David renewed their vows at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Corliss Township, rural Perham. Together they made their home in rural Perham. Cheryl was employed as manager of the Cenex Co-op in New York Mills and was a very motivated board member of Cenex to build the new C-Store in New York Mills. For the past 20 years Cheryl has been a financial advisor and most recently owned and operated NetWorth Asset Management in Perham.

Cheryl and David enjoyed traveling together through the United States, Canada and Mexico. She got a thrill when she drove her modified tractor in tractor pulls. Cheryl loves the Holiday Season and enjoyed going to auctions, garage sales, and reading- especially Portal of Prayers.

On November 30, 2023, Cheryl passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D. at 63 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Cheryl in death were her parents Robert Papenfuss and Linda (Hoffmann) Papenfuss.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, David Romann of Perham; son, Brian Romann of Perham; grandchildren: Sam and Avery; great-grandchild, Nora; sister, Glenda (Pete) Wientjes of Perham; brother, Neil (Tammy) Papenfuss of New York Mills; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
