Memorial services were held for Faye Imsande-Jaaska age 89, of New York Mills on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11 a.m. Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, with Pastor Kirk Douglas officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Janell Brakel. Special music was provided by Erica, Spencer, Jackie, and Sidney Imsande, accompanied by Becky Imsande. Faye will be laid to rest in Haycreek Cemetery, rural Sebeka, at a later date. 

Faye Arlene Rice was born on June 25, 1933 at home in Dora Township, rural Vergas. Her parents were the late George and Mae (Mathiason) Rice. Faye was one of three children. She attended Davies District #186 School in Homestead Township for her first seven grades. Her family then moved to Washington after the 1946 drought for employment. She attended 8th and 9th grade in Coulee Dam, Washington.  The Rice family returned to their farm in Homestead Township and she attended 10th grade at District #47 in New York Mills. She received adult baptism and confirmation from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Blowers Township in 1951. 

On August 18, 1951 Faye was united in marriage to Clifford John Imsande and she became a step-mother to Gene, age 13 and Darlene, age 12. To this union, they added two sons, Greg and Rodney. 

Faye farmed along side Clifford in Blowers Township.  Faye was employed at Nobest and Swift, turkey processing plants. She was employed with them in Pelican Rapids, Frazee and Detroit Lakes. She retired in 1992. 

Clifford passed away on Thanksgiving Day in 1991. 

On November 23, 1996 Faye was united in marriage to Wilho Jaaska at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. They made their home on the Jaaska Corner in Leaf Lake Township where Wilho farmed until retiring in 1998.  In 2001 Wilho and Faye made their home in New York Mills.  Wilho passed away on October 21, 2011.   

Faye enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing; an admitted TV addict, she liked watching the Minnesota Twins, westerns and old gameshows; was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Quilters and the Bluebird Sewing Circle. She also loved to watch her kids and grandkids sporting events. 

On March 15, 2023 Faye passed away at Mills Manor in New York Mills, at 89 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Faye in death were her parents, George and Mae Rice; husband, Clifford; husband, Wilho; sons: Gene Imsande and Rodney Imsande; and sister, Faith (Kenneth) Rimpila. 

Faye is survived by her children: Greg (Kim) Imsande of New York Mills; and Darlene (Leo) Heyne of St. Joseph, Minn.; daughters-in-law: Sharon Imsande of New York Mills and Becky Imsande of Alexandria, Minn.; 8 grandchildren; brother, Francis (Florence) Rice; many other relatives and a host of friends.
