0A Service of Christian Burial was held for Gerald Beach age 89 of Sebeka, Minnesota on Monday, February, 14, 2022 at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena, Minnesota with Fr. Aaron Kuhn officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Elmer Goche Post #3922 of Wadena, Minnesota. Gerald was laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, New York Mills, Minnesota.
Gerald Douglas Beach was born on August 13, 1932 to Emma Beach in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up on the Beach family rodeo circuit, traveling throughout the United States. His mother, Emma was a welder at the Portland, Oregon shipyards. They made their home in Tennessee. Gerald honorably served in the United States Air Force from December 1, 1950 to November 30, 1954 in San Bernardino, California.
On August 13, 1956 Gerald was united in marriage to Doris Brown at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Butler, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Gayle and Dan. Together they traveled to California and then made their home in Becker County, Minnesota. Gerald was employed with his uncle in Brainerd, Minnesota doing concrete work. Since October of 1966 they resided in Paddock Township, rural Sebeka, Minnesota.
After retirement Gerald was employed with RDO and also did some concrete work. He loved playing guitar and accordion at various area events with the Vagabonds, Minnesota 4 and Eric Roggenkamp. He also enjoyed fishing, mowing the lawn and making some pretty good moonshine back in the day.
On February 3, 2022 Gerald passed peacefully at his home in his favorite recliner while Gunsmoke was on the television, while under the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice at 89 years of age. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Gerald is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Beach and his wife Doris Beach.
Gerald is survived by his children: Gayle (Stewart) Limanen and Daniel Beach (girlfriend, Kimberly Mathews); grandchildren: Renee (Kevin) Peterka; Nathan (Cortney) Limanen; Tara (Eddie) Weller; great-grandchildren: Katie, Bentley, TJ, Peyton, Arnie and Civic.
