Funeral Services were held for Gwen Eckhoff, age 69 of Deer Creek, on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning with Pastor Dan Larsen officiating. Pallbearers were Corey Eckhoff, Brad Eckhoff, Chris Eckhoff, Bubba Rinerson, Mike Simmons, Jake Pedersen and Erik Orndorff. Honorary Pallbearers were Gwen’s granddaughters: Kensey, Ashlyn and Samantha; great-grandson: Evan; and goddaughter: Kari. Gwen was laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Henning. 

Gwen Lorraine Hofferbert was born on August 9, 1952, in Parkers Prairie, to Clarence and Lorraine (Pieper) Hofferbert. 

Gwen and her family moved to Washington State in 1957, where she grew up. She graduated in 1970 from the Redmond Senior High School. 

In 1975, Gwen came to Minnesota where she met and married Dean Eckhoff on October 9, 1976. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Jami Leigh and Jessica Louise. 

She loved spending time with her grandchildren Samantha, Jake, Erik, Ashlyn, and Kensey. Gwen also loved doing crafts, scrapbooking, and crocheting. 

She was involved in American Legion Auxiliary unit 283 as the President for a while. Gwen was also on the Deer Trails Day Committee and was a member of the Deer Creek Rod and Gun Club. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: Clarice; brother: Doug; and grandparents. 

She is survived by her husband Dean of 45 years; Daughters: Jami Orndorff, Jessica (Mike) Simmons; grandchildren: Samantha (Jake) Pedersen, Erik Orndorff, Ashlyn and Kensey Simmons; great-grandson: Evan Pedersen; sister: Darlene (John) Gamalieson; brother: Dennis Hofferbert of Washington; along with many relatives and family friends.
