Irma V. Rinas, 83 of Perham, was called to her heavenly home on October 14, 2020 at her home in Perham, surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  

Irma was born to Herman and Ida (Bahls) Flath on October 17, 1936 in rural Perham. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Reformed Church in Perham and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Corliss Township, near Perham. As a child, Irma attend country school near her home.  

On February 19, 1957, Irma married Carl Rinas, Jr. in Perham. Together Carl and Irma were dairy farmers for the next 37 years and then worked at Tuffy’s in Perham for several years.

Irma loved being outdoors, working in her garden and with her flowers until her health prevented her from doing so. She enjoyed quilting and baking and generously shared her treats with all. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and especially cherished time with her family.

Preceding Irma in death were her husband Carl; parents Herman and Ida Flath; brothers Alvin Flath, Vernon Flath, Clarence Flath, Edwin Flath, and Roy Flath; and sisters Adelyne Boone and Blanche Dornbush.

She will be dearly missed by her four daughters Connie (Gary) Dierks of Frazee, Minn., Vicky (Danny) Feldt of Frazee, Minn., Pam (Tom) Minten of Battle Lake, and Karla (Jason) McClellan of Perham; ten grandchildren: Kim Wendt and Kelli (Matt) Johnson; Tyler Feldt, Ryan (Stacey) Feldt, and Amelia (Cody) Gaetz; Kaleb (Angela) Minten, Noah Minten, and Lauren Minten (Derrick Christensen); Brandon Wiirre and Paige Wiirre; and great-grandchildren: Austin and Abbi Wendt; Brekken, Eli, and Mila Johnson; Kinley and Hudson Feldt; Colton Gaetz and Gaetz twin babies scheduled to arrive in January. Also surviving Irma are her brothers John (Marlys) Flath of rural Menahga, Minn. and Marvin (JoAnn) Flath of Park Rapids, Minn.; and sister Marie Walker of Arbuckle, Calif.; as well as a wider circle of family and friends.

Walkthrough visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at Schoeneberger Funeral & Cremation Service. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Corliss Twp. near Perham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
