John Calvin Carter, age 78, of New York Mills, formerly of Wadena, and Port Townsend, Wash., passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, N.D., surrounded by the love of his family.

A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 20, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena. Public visitation took place one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow at Wadena Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the funeral home.
