Funeral Mass was held for Laura Jacobson, age 67, of New York Mills, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, with Fr. George Michael officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Dulski, Reed Jacobson, Josh Jacobson, Jim Rutten, Shane Scheidecker, and Eric Doll.

Laura Marlene Dulski was born on April 24, 1954, in Perham. Her parents were the late Andrew Bert and Johanna Mary (Riddering) Dulski. Laura grew up in Perham and graduated with the Class of 1972 from Perham High School.

On September 15, 1973, Laura was united in marriage to Red Jacobson and made their home on the Jacobson farm south of New York Mills, where they were blessed with five children. Mandy, Jessie, Lacey, and Lane admired unconditional love, learned to work hard, respect others, love nature, and know they could always turn to mom and dad no matter what life brings.

Laura was employed at the Frazee Turkey Plant and the IGA Grocery Store. She also was employed at the Elder’s Home in New York Mills, where she was a loyal employee for 25 years. All while helping on the farm and raising four daughters. In 2010 Red and Laura purchased Sewer Service with Lane and Shanon. Laura was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Christian Mothers and volunteered at the New York Mills Food Shelf.

Laura’s passions included time with her family, especially all of her “favorite” daughters, her sons-in-law, and her grandchildren. Picnics at the lake, rummy card games, side-by-side rides, gardening, embroidering, and rummage sales brought Laura happiness. Her kitchen skills were second to none; she loved finding new recipes to try. Laura also enjoyed Black Friday shopping with her sister Carol, her nieces, and her daughters – she wouldn’t buy much but looked forward to getting up early after searching all the ads and our 11:00 lunch date where we would talk about all of our finds.  Red’s love and dedication to Laura allowed her to stay at home for care which led to meaningful connections with her caregivers. She enjoyed their visits and going on outings with Jody and Dave. Laura endured many difficult years of a rare, debilitating disease that stripped her of so many day-to-day abilities, and yet her perseverance was nothing less than admirable. She was the strongest, hardworking, Christian wife and mother. Even when it was hard for her to verbalize, Laura’s smile, contagious laugh and sense of humor continued to be her light. She battled to beat the disease and if it were up to her, she would still be fighting for Red and her family.

On November 10, 2021, Laura passed away peacefully at her home at 67 years of age next to the love of her life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Laura in death were her parents: Andrew and Johanna Dulski; son, Slade Dean Jacobson; brother, Thomas Dulski; and father-in-law, George Jacobson; sister-in-law, Virginia Jacobson; brother-in-law, Paul Jacobson.
